Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about no win, no fee recovery, funded legal action, case reviews and the information needed to start recovery.
How much does it cost?
We operate on a genuine no win, no fee basis. No setup fees or administration fees apply. Commission rates are agreed before any recovery action commences.
What does no win, no fee mean?
If we do not recover money from the debtor, no commission is payable to us.
Do you cover legal recovery costs?
Qualifying cases may benefit from funded recovery action, including final demands, statutory demands and County Court claims. Funding is assessed on a case-by-case basis and offered at our discretion.
What types of debt can you recover?
We specialise in the recovery of business-to-business debts, including unpaid invoices, overdue accounts, contractual debts and commercial payment disputes.
What information do I need to provide?
Typically, we will require:
- A copy of the unpaid invoice or invoices
- Statements of account
- Relevant contracts or agreements
- Correspondence with the debtor
- Any other documents supporting the debt
How quickly will you review my case?
We aim to review all new instructions within one working day of receiving the required information.
How long does debt recovery take?
Every case is different. Some debts are recovered within days, whilst others may require legal action and take longer. We will keep you informed throughout the recovery process.
What happens after I submit a debt?
We will assess the debt, review the supporting documentation and discuss the most appropriate recovery options before taking action.
Can you recover debts if the debtor disputes the invoice?
Potentially. We will assess the nature of the dispute and advise whether recovery action remains appropriate.
Will legal action be taken automatically?
No. Legal action will only be recommended where appropriate and will never be commenced without your approval.
Do I need to sign any documents?
We may request a signed Authority to Act or other supporting documentation before commencing recovery action.
What if the debtor pays me directly?
You must notify us immediately of any payment received directly from the debtor. Commission may still be payable where payment results from our recovery activity.
Can you accept payments on my behalf?
Yes. We can receive payments from debtors into our designated account and remit cleared funds to you after deducting any agreed commission and recoverable costs.
Do you only recover UK debts?
We currently focus on business-to-business debts involving businesses operating within the United Kingdom.
Are you insured?
Yes. HK Commercial Debt Recovery maintains Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance.
